Video: Managing Anxiety

In this short video for the burn community, Blake demonstrates deep breathing as a resource for managing anxiety during uncertain times. As an introduction to deep breathing, Blake shows two techniques to reduce anxiety and keep us grounded in our bodies. By incorporating bodily sensation we are more able to stay present and not drift away into worry.

Mantras can be a simple and portable resource for managing anxiety during uncertain times. Blake gives an introduction to mantras, or short phrases that help calm and center the mind. Ultimately, each person can choose a phrase or phrases that work best for them. Phrases from one’s spiritual tradition can work great, but often simple everyday phrases that are meaningful work best to calm anxiety. Blake gives a few examples in this video.
