Tonya Meisenbach, better known as Burned Beauty 2018, is a wife, mother of two adult children, luminary, and humanitarian currently living in Atlanta, GA. After being burned over 35% of her upper body and almost losing the battle, nothing has changed, Tonya turned her pain into purpose, and although Tonya's methodology is different, the end goal remains the same, elevating others. Tonya now uses hair, makeup, tutorials, and social media to help inspire other burn survivors in their recovery.
Webinar 3: Summer's Ending - Getting Ready for Back to School with Alan & April Presswood
Wednesday, August 7th at 12 pm EST
Alan and April Presswood are the parents of two children, Jake, age 8 and Emma, age 11. Their son, Jake, was burned in a fire pit accident at 6 years old, which they witnessed. They both are trained Phoenix SOAR Peer Supporters and April is on the Board of Victim2Victor, which is a local burn support group in Winston Salem, NC. Jake was treated by the compassionate staff and doctors at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist in Winston Salem, NC.
Jake’s accident changed their lives in many ways. Post accident, Jake is thriving and is “obsessed” with baseball. He currently plays on a Little League team and recently completed a baseball camp at Davidson College. His sister, Emma, is an avid Carolina Tarheels fan and enjoys playing basketball and volleyball at her middle school. Alan is an assistant Little League Baseball Coach and an electrical engineer by trade. April is a financial manager by trade and enjoys volunteering at their school and church. They live with a golden retriever named LULU, who has helped in their healing. They also now have decided to dedicate their time volunteering in the burn community and when needed on the Burn Unit at Wake Forest. “We knew it was important for both of our children to see that life does not stop after an accident. You move FORWARD and thrive. It makes you a stronger person and family in life!”
