Providing Burn Care is a physically and emotionally demanding job. AND, it is a rewarding and inspiring profession. It’s the work we do…. Understanding what we bring to this work and what we take from doing this work will only make us stronger providers, healthier in relationships in and out of the burn center and more grounded as individuals.
There are important steps you can take to keep yourself healthy even while you are caring for others. During this session, some of these strategies will be highlighted; participants will learn strategies to use at the burn center, at home, and within to create a healthy framework to continue in the profession of burn care.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Kristen Quinn has worked in burn care at the University of Utah Health Burn Center since 1993. Her roles have included Child Life Specialist, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and Psychosocial Program Coordinator. She helped to develop the Phoenix UBelong Program with Phoenix Society, for their Phoenix World Burn Congress and has held several positions at the conference. Kristen was a key player in the creation of the psychosocial programming at the U Health Burn Camp Programs, has been a part of the U Health Burn Camp Programs since 1993. She is now the director of the five programs as well as yearlong programming.
